Round 4: Tiger Woods 73 (E)
Pops it onto the fringe and gets a nice roll about two feet out. Second shot goes long past the green, right on the edge. Solid tee shot to start the back nine goes about yards down the right side of the fairway. Sinks it for PAR and makes the turn at 6 under. He misses left by about two feet. Gets it to the middle with a slight roll back and about 30 feet to go.
Goes with the driver and gets it to the right side of the fairway. He buries it for PAR. Recovers nicely and pitches it about four feet out. Hits it hard out the trees and goes just long of the green, narrowly missing the left side bunker. Tiger drills it way, way right off the tee. He can't quite get it to go as it slides just past the right edge.
Iron shot is safely onto the green, short about 30 feet from the hole. Just misses short by about a foot for birdie. Another solid approach gets onto the green and long of the hole by about 25 feet. He pulls the driver left into the rough but has a good angle ahead. He does it again. He wasn't too happy with it initially but it ends up dropping on the green for a foot try for birdie. Gets it to go for PAR. Not the best contact on it and the putt comes up short by a few feet.
The approach finds the green and should give him about 35 feet for another birdie try. He goes driver down the right side into some deep rough and it takes a huge hop to get there.
Iron again here and it finds the right side of the fairway about yards down. Now Tiger is four under today, one of the best scores third round for the field.
Tiger Woods scores have not been good so far this Sunday. Tiger is now even through the fifth, falling back from first o second. Meantime the rest of the field is improving. Can Tiger Woods improve in the back eight today? Tiger Woods scores this weekend have been 70, 68 and 67 Saturday. But Tiger is now even through the fifth. That moves him to eight under overall, and into a tied second position. Tiger had told news that more tournaments would help him.
Tiger was pleased with Friday and Saturday. Today was a good day. Just played like crap. Woods started strong with two straight birdies Sunday, but bogeyed two of the next five holes. He finished 1-under on the front nine. The back nine put him away for good with double bogeys on Holes 14 and Woods birdied or made par on just four holes on the back nine.
Here are some of the higlights Drives his tee shot up the right side of the fairway. Second shot lands on the green about 10 feet from the hole. Ends the tournament with a birdie. Finds the fairway on his tee shot. Then lands it on the green just over 15 feet from the pin. Misses the 15 footer for birdie, but saves it with a par putt.
Tee shot finds the fairway; then his approach shot finds the water. Tee shot does not go well. Second shot is more or less the same, still in the right rough. His third shot sends it over the green to the back-left rough.
